Rabbits are a lot of work and don’t always make the best pet for smaller children. They come in many different breeds, sizes, and colors. Their typical lifespan is around 8 years, but rabbits can live up to 12 years if they are spayed/neutered.

Fixing your pet rabbit has many other health benefits: It lowers the risk of cancer and urinary tract infections, and the rabbit tends to become calmer. Neutered males won’t spray and females that are spayed become less likely to be cage aggressive. Fixed rabbits are a lot easier to litterbox train, making cage cleaning much easier.

Because of its fiber, hay is the most important part of a rabbit’s diet. Rabbits on a low-fiber diet can develop gastrointestinal (GI) stasis. Like cats, rabbits spend much of their time grooming themselves.

Rabbits do not have the ability to vomit, so a supplement is needed in their diet to help hairballs from grooming pass through their systems. Aside from weather changes and predators, rabbits tend to be forgotten about in outdoor hutches. Because of this, Pet World will only sell rabbits to live indoors.
