Amphibians

Amphibians are animals that are cold-blooded, live both on land and in water, and go through metamorphosis as they age. Unable to regulate their own body temperature, amphibians must be kept in appropriate temperatures to make sure they do not get too hot or cold. When amphibians are born, they tend to be water-dwellers. Then as amphibians grow up, and go through metamorphosis, they develop features that allow them to be land dwellers. Amphibians consume a range of insects and thereby play a major role in the food chain and help to control the spread of pests and diseases in the environment. Amphibians can make excellent pets and range in sizes depending on type.

Reptiles

Reptiles are one of the six main animal classifications that include reptiles, amphibians, mammals, invertebrates, fish, and birds. Reptiles are animals that are distinguished by being covered in scales, cold-blooded, capable of laying hard shell eggs. Since they are cold-blooded creatures, reptiles must be maintained in appropriate temperatures. Additionally, reptiles do not have sweat glands the way that humans do and therefore have no other way to cool themselves than to be in a cool setting, such as bathing in cool water. Reptiles are noted to be tetrapods, meaning that they are a four-legged genre. Snakes have lost their legs through the process of evolution, however they are known to have descended from four-legged ancestor reptiles. Reptiles are some of the longest living creatures in the entire world. Some of the reptiles that reside at Pet World are geckos, green anoles, and Bearded Dragons.
